Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring a ME or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

Details

• Med/Surg General unit in a 45-bed hospital setting
• Patient population includes orthopedic, general surgery, and urology cases with top diagnoses of CHF, COPD, and pneumonia
• Pediatric patients admitted to the general floor require the assigned nurse to hold PALS certification
• Patient ratios of 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Equipment used includes Plum pumps, Pyxis, Ascom phones, bladder scanner, EKG machine, and Phillips cardiac monitor
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required, including a 25-mile float policy between facilities as needed
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (ME or compact) required
• BLS and ACLS required, PALS preferred (required only if caring for pediatric patients)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• IV skills and telemetry monitoring experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy medical-surgical unit with a focus on orthopedic, general surgery, and urology patients
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately per unit standards
• Team-oriented environment requiring a positive, professional, and collaborative approach
• Scrubs of any color permitted as long as clean and in good repair; no prints, hoodies, crocs, or open-toed shoes allowed
• Candidates located within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility are considered local and are not eligible for renewals or extensions
• RTO should be minimal, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract
• Cell phones, laptops, and airpods are prohibited for use on the unit
