Med/Surg RN Job Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in Nebraska
• At least 1 year of recent adult medical-surgical nursing experience
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate bedside nursing care to patients with varied medical and surgical needs
• Comfort working 12-hour rotating nursing shifts
• Strong communication, organization, clinical judgment, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
• Flexibility to float to other units, departments, or patient care areas based on staffing and operational needs

Med/Surg Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout the care continuum
• Assess patient conditions, identify changes in status, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with clinical standards and hospital policies
• Monitor vital signs, symptoms, lines, drains, and other relevant clinical indicators
• Collaborate with providers, nursing colleagues, patients, and families to support positive patient outcomes
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly
• Provide patient and family education related to treatment plans, medications, and discharge needs
• Adapt quickly to changing census, patient acuity, and unit assignments while maintaining high-quality care
