Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring SC or compact RN license and Epic experience.

Details

  • Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting of 34 staffed beds
  • Patient ratios of 1:6-7, flexing to 1:7 during unplanned absences
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7p-7:30a
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • PRN low census on-call required
  • Floating within scope to like units/sister facilities required
  • Charting completed in Epic

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or Compact license must be in hand prior to start
  • Current BLS certification required
  • ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • 2 years of Med/Surg experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience with Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Insulin administration, and Rapid Response skills required
  • Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, starting/maintaining IVs, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen tanks, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, CVA care, heparin administration, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team use
  • Social Security Number required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg and telemetry patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and wound/line management
  • Royal Blue scrubs required
  • Completion of facility modules required prior to start, averaging 4 hours
  • Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration, with approval based on facility needs
  • Local candidates not accepted; radius rule of 60 miles applies
  • Staff may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, peak August-September)
