Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a 28-bed Medical-Surgical unit.
• Assess, monitor, and document patients' health conditions and progress.
• Care for patients with cardiology, surgical oncology, urology, and complex medical-surgical conditions.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and prescribed treatments.
• Monitor patients through telemetry and recognize basic cardiac rhythm abnormalities.
• Identify changes in patient conditions and promptly communicate concerns to physicians.
• Provide routine care for patients requiring nasal cannula oxygen (less than 6 L when acute) and trach collar support.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing assistants, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery.
• Support and guide nursing students and new staff through preceptorship.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using EPIC.
• Follow infection control, patient safety, and hospital protocols.
• Float to other units as required based on clinical competency.

Requirements: - Active RN License. - Current BLS Certification required. - Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred. - Ability to care for a diverse patient population, including Cardiology, Surgical Oncology, Urology, and complex Med-Surg patients. - Basic cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required. - Telemetry monitoring experience required. - EPIC charting experience preferred. - Must be willing to teach, precept, and learn in an academic healthcare setting. - Must live outside the facility's 50-mile radius. - Copy of Driver’s License required at submission to verify the 50-mile radius. - Must pass the open-book orientation exam with a minimum score of 90%. - Artificial nails are strictly prohibited. - Must be available to float based on skill level. - Every other weekend and holiday availability required. - No direct full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities.
