Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Women's Care Unit position on night shift, requiring 2 years of Med/Surg experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Acute care Women's Care Unit (Med/Surg) with 18 beds
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Patient population includes hysterectomy, mastectomy, and postpartum (mom's only) patients, plus general medical/surgical cases
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • 12-hour night shifts from 7pm-7:30am
  • 4 weekend shifts required per schedule period
  • Holiday coverage required as part of core staff rotation
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Floating required to other general medical units
  • 1 Charge Nurse per shift along with a house supervisor
  • PCT support provided at a ratio of 1 PCT per 12 patients, or 2 PCTs for more than 12 patients
  • CPAP respiratory equipment used on the unit
  • Patients may have heart monitors but RNs are not required to read telemetry strips

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
  • Experience with NG tube placement, foley catheter placement, blood administration, and heparin/insulin drips required
  • Must be able to titrate drips including heparin and insulin
  • Nursys verification required for license

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for gynecological surgical and postpartum patients within a Med/Surg setting
  • Unit-specific orientation consists of 1 shift, with additional shifts evaluated as needed
  • Scrubs of any color are permitted
  • Local candidates accepted, with a reduced rate applying to those within 50 miles of the facility
  • OSF does not require COVID vaccination for consideration
  • Requested time off must be submitted with candidate profile
