Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Acute care Med/Surg unit with 23 beds on the 4th floor and 14 beds on the 3rd floor
  • Ideal nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, up to 1:7 as needed
  • PCT support available at a 1:8 ratio
  • Common diagnoses include NSTEMI, COPD, PNA, sepsis, and AKI
  • Telemetry monitoring present on the unit with strips read by monitor techs and signed off by RNs
  • 12-hour night shifts (7P-7A)
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday requirement typically
  • Low census possible but rare; no on-call requirement
  • Floating to ICU, ER, or BHC possible based on experience level, otherwise no floating required outside Med/Surg
  • Charge nurse/house supervisor support available
  • Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required
  • BLS certification (AHA) required
  • Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required
  • RNs are not required to titrate drips
  • Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit with telemetry monitoring responsibilities
  • One shift of department-specific orientation provided with an informational binder
  • Any scrub color accepted with closed-toed shoes required
  • Local candidates within 50 miles may be eligible for a local rate
  • COVID vaccination is not required for this position
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
