Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week day shift assignment at a Level 3 Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of Med Surg/Oncology experience.

Details

  • Work on the 4A Surg/Onc unit caring for orthopedic, urology, general surgery, oncology, and medical patients
  • 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Every third weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the same discipline across local campuses
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Iowa or compact) required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA preferred; ARC or US Military accepted)
  • NIHSS certification required (can be obtained during onboarding)
  • 2+ years of Med Surg and/or Oncology experience required
  • High-acuity care experience preferred
  • Experience administering Heparin, PCA, and epidural drips required
  • Chemo certification a plus if administering chemo drips
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Completed skills checklist specific to Med Surg required
  • One supervisory reference/performance evaluation from within the last two years required

Additional Information

  • Provide professional nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team managing patient care
  • Level 3 Trauma Center environment
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Required to work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day)
  • Limited to 1 day off request during designated holiday blackout periods
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply
  • Prior travel experience preferred but not required
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) may be restricted from working travel assignments in another market within 12 months
