Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring a Michigan RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

Details

  • Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes a mix of medical and surgical cases such as ortho/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary, GI, urology, hysterectomy, and mastectomy patients
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • 36 or 48 hour work weeks available
  • Staffing ratio of 1:5-6 for nights, which may flex to 1:7-8 with LPN support
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Floats to other Med Surg units approximately once per week
  • Travelers are first to float

Requirements

  • Active Michigan RN license required
  • BLS (AHA) certification required, pending certification accepted with confirmation of willingness to obtain
  • Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required, 2 years preferred
  • Must be willing to work alongside a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and techs
  • Supervisor-level references required
  • Proof of flu vaccination required with submission, or exemption request submitted within 48 hours of signing

Additional Information

  • Must be available for the first 2 weeks of assignment for orientation
  • Assignment length offered up to 26 weeks, with preference noted at submission
  • Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed at this time
  • RTO limited to no more than 10 days
  • Non-billable 8-hour training modules completed during orientation and annually, self-reported
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
  • Previous internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
