Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring oncology experience and comfort with step-down patients.

Details

• Medical/Oncology unit treating patients with cancer diagnoses, medical step-down patients, and general medical overflow
• 324-bed medical center with Level II trauma care
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Required to take step-down patients
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active Michigan (MI) RN license required, compact license not accepted
• 2+ years of Med/Surg experience required
• Oncology experience required
• Must be comfortable taking step-down patients
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
• Prior travel work history highly preferred
• Epic EMR experience highly preferred
• Skills checklist current within 1 year pertinent to Med/Surg required for consideration
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for oncology and medical step-down patients
• Provide direct patient care including nursing assessment, medication administration, treatments, and responding to alarms
• Evaluate treatment plan effectiveness and collaborate with the care team to update patient care plans
• Process physician orders accurately and follow up on medication changes and order clarifications
• Dress code is navy blue scrubs
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility for consideration, as local candidates are not accepted
• No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO) during the assignment
