Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position at a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

  • Medical Surgical unit within a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital
  • 20 staffed beds on the unit
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-5
  • Unit specializes in gender affirming surgery (GAS) and orthopedic cases
  • Innovative virtual care model unit collaborating with virtual RNs, requiring frequent iPhone communication
  • Floating within specialty required, with travelers prioritized to float first
  • Required to work 2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period (Sunday nights not counted as weekend)
  • No on-call requirements
  • No block scheduling accommodations available
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active WA state or compact RN license required (compact accepted with additional requirements)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • At least 2 prior travel assignments beyond initial hospital experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS and NIH/NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Teaching hospital and trauma hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred but not required
  • COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care on a highly collaborative, innovative unit piloting new virtual care models
  • Collaborate closely with virtual RNs as part of UW's first virtual care RN unit
  • Scrub requirement: any solid color scrubs, also provided on unit
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Facility prefers to avoid submitting travel pairs
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rates with no radius restriction
  • RTO cannot be requested during orientation week and should be kept to a minimum
  • Facility cannot accommodate scheduling requests outside of approved RTO
  • Prior UW staff must be separated from the facility for 18 months before returning as a traveler
