Unit Details
- ️ 34-bed Medical Surgical unit
- ⚕️ Nurse-to-patient ratios:
Required Qualifications
- ✅ BLS
- ✅ NIHSS
- ✅ Recent Med Surg, PCU, Telemetry, or CCU experience
Patient Population
- Pneumonia (PNA)
- COPD
- CHF
- Orthopedic cases (hips, knees, shoulders)
- Appendectomy
- Cholecystectomy
- Diverticulitis
- Bowel resection
- Pancreatitis
Clinical Details
- No titratable drips required
- Heparin protocol used
- Remote telemetry monitoring (Monitor Tech interprets rhythms)
- Chronic CPAP/BiPAP patients
Support Staff
- Charge Nurse on both shifts
- Night Supervisor available
- PCT support (up to 1:12 ratio)
Schedule
- ⏰ Days: 6:00 AM–6:30 PM
- Nights: 6:00 PM–6:30 AM
- Self-scheduling when staffing allows
- ❌ No blocked scheduling requests
Requirements
- Weekend rotation (approximately 4 weekend shifts every 6 weeks)
- Holiday rotation
- May be placed on call if canceled (45-minute return time)
- Floating within Med Surg scope only
Orientation & Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
- 1 clinical education shift + 2 precepted unit shifts
