Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring ND or compact licensure and 2+ years of surgical experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit in an acute care hospital with Level 2 trauma designation
• 30-bed unit with day shift ratios of 1:4-5 and night shift ratios of 1:5-6
• Patient population includes total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology procedures, abdominal surgery, bariatrics, colostomies, and medical overflow
• Frequent management of hemovacs and JP drains
• Occasional heparin drips, PCA pumps, and TPN, though RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Charge nurse present on both shifts, occasionally taking a low-acuity assignment on nights
• Nurse aides/patient care techs available at a 1:12 ratio
• Remote tele packs used with monitor techs interpreting strips; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• RT provides treatments; RNs troubleshoot nasal cannula equipment only
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour day shifts (0700-1930), with rotation to nights not occurring more than weekly if applicable
• Every other weekend requirement and holiday coverage as needed
• Floats to medical and telemetry units to assist with strips and take medical patients

Requirements

• Active ND state or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Surgical, post-op, and early ambulation experience preferred
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
