Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for our Medical Surgical unit specializing in post-surgical care, including urology and bariatric surgery. This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a collaborative team environment.
Unit/Department Details
- Unit: 6 South -- Post-Surgical
- Patient Population: Post-operative bariatric reduction, urologic/nephrology surgeries, and related surgical interventions.
- Number of Beds: 28
- Staffing Ratio: 1:6
Contract Details
- Length of Contract: 26 weeks preferred, with consideration for up to 51 weeks.
- Orientation Dates: Available dates include 10/19/2026, 11/02/2026, 11/16/2026, 11/30/2026.
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts with a guarantee of 36 hours per week.
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend required.
- Holiday Rotation: 1 holiday off can be requested, in addition to 2 federal holidays per year.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:
- Providing comprehensive patient care to post-surgical patients.
- Monitoring patient progress and responding to changes in condition.
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Documenting care and patient information accurately in the electronic health record system (Epic).
Qualifications
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience required; progressive care/step-down experience is preferred.
- Certifications: AHA BLS certification is required at the time of submission.
- Licensure: Must possess a valid KS state or Multistate nursing license with no disciplinary actions.
Additional Information
- Charting System: Proficiency in Epic is required; a testing option is available.
- Jewelry and Body Adornment: Visible tattoos are permitted as long as they are appropriate for a professional setting. Facial and ear piercings are acceptable as long as they do not interfere with job duties.
- Vaccination Requirements: Proof of immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella or completion of vaccination series is necessary. Documentation for TDaP and flu vaccination during flu season, along with TB documentation, is also required.
