Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring prior travel nursing experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work on the 3rd floor Resource Team of a hospital-based Med/Surg unit
• 27-30 bed unit with patient ratios of 1:5 and 1:6
• Patient population includes ortho and general surgery, back surgery, GI, renal, oncology, and general medical cases
• Uses Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, vein light, Pyxis medication system, and Vocera communication devices
• Epic EMR experience required
• Night shift schedule from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM
• Every third weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)
• Float requirement between three Med/Surg units in Lafayette
• No call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• Previous travel nurse experience required
• Prior Med/Surg and telemetry experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience managing Heparin drips and blood administration preferred
• Experience with general and ortho post-op care preferred

• Provide direct patient care across multiple Med/Surg units within a fast-paced hospital environment
• Independent work style preferred, with comfort asking questions when needed
• Must be flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced unit
• Navy blue scrubs required; non-facility sweatshirts, jackets, and facial piercings not permitted
• CBT modules must be completed prior to clinical orientation
• Epic proficiency may allow candidates to test out of additional Epic training if used within the past year
