Travel Nursing Job Details

- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week, typically three shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or approximately two weekends per month; additional coverage may be needed
- Holiday Coverage: Rotation with regular staff, including select major and minor holidays
- Call: No call or standby requirement
- Charting: Epic
- Orientation: Initial unit orientation plus two additional precepted shifts
- Openings: Four travel RN positions available
Travel RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and eligibility to practice in Mississippi
- Medical-surgical nursing experience
- Level I trauma experience required
- Experience in a large, high-acuity facility with a significant surgical patient population strongly preferred
- Current BLS certification required
- Current ACLS certification required
- Demonstrated comfort caring for patients with central lines, chest tubes, and complex medical-surgical needs
- Ability to float among medical-surgical units within demonstrated competencies
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
- Professional solid-color scrubs required
Med-Surg Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with infectious diseases, medical-surgical diagnoses, and higher-acuity needs
- Manage typical nurse-to-patient assignments of 1:5 to 1:6 while adjusting care priorities based on patient acuity
- Assess, monitor, and document patient responses to treatment using Epic
- Care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen needs in collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Administer and monitor ordered therapies, including heparin and other medications requiring close assessment
- Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Participate in telemetry monitoring processes and respond appropriately to rhythm or clinical changes
- Collaborate with nurse aides, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, providers, and other care team members
- Float to other medical-surgical units within the nurse’s skill set as department needs require
- Support safe, compassionate patient care throughout the assignment, including required weekend and holiday coverage
