Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg - Post Op RN for a night shift role requiring TN or compact RN license and 2 years of experience.

Details

• Work in a 34-bed Post-Op Med/Surg unit (6th Floor, ENT/GI/Med Surg)
• Patient ratio of 6:1
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 3 12-hour shifts per week with 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Tech support available on day and night shifts; unit secretary coverage from 7a-7p
• Uses IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• Contract labor staff are first to float, based on rotation when multiple contract staff are scheduled

Requirements

• Active RN license (TN or compact) required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Med/Surg experience required
• Skilled in IV starts, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
• Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced unit
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required for Florida and Missouri candidates)
• No gaps in work history exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months

• Provide attentive, compassionate care with a focus on bedside shift reporting and personal connection with patients and families
• Include patients and family members in care planning discussions
• Facility holds Comprehensive Stroke, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center designations
• Required dress code is navy scrubs, top and bottom
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
