Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license
• Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg, acute care, or related inpatient nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Comfortable caring for patients with wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures
• Ability to support patients who may require dialysis or PCA pumps
• Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Experience with electronic health records and electronic documentation systems is preferred

Med Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate bedside nursing care for a diverse Med/Surg patient population
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring throughout the shift
• Manage post-op care for procedures such as amputations, ostomies, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs
• Support patients requiring wound care, tracheostomy care, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Administer medications accurately, including controlled substances, while following 100% medication scanning practices
• Maintain infection prevention, fall prevention, and patient safety standards throughout the shift
• Complete bedside shift report and frequent safety checks to promote an excellent patient experience
• Collaborate closely with the care team to support smooth unit flow and positive patient outcomes
• Float as needed to support core staff and patient care needs
