Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Neuro RN for a night-shift travel assignment requiring MO or compact RN licensure and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Details

• Neurosciences unit with 17 beds providing medical and surgical care for neuro patients, including Parkinson's, stroke, and lumbar cases
• No trauma patients on this unit
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday) unless otherwise approved
• Rotating holiday coverage with at least one summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day) and one winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day) required
• Customary floating to Med Surg and Progressive units required
• No on-call requirements
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Standard equipment including IV pumps

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required (can be completed during orientation)
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred, or willingness to take on charge duties
• Neuro and stroke experience highly preferred
• IV therapy competency including central line care required
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care including assessment, care planning, medication administration, wound care, and patient/family education
• Monitor and document patient conditions, coordinating with the healthcare team to modify treatment plans as needed
• Supervise and delegate duties to unlicensed assistive personnel and ancillary staff as appropriate
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations and adverse patient reactions
• Attend a Neuroscience Nursing course as assigned by the nurse manager
• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with exemptions requiring client approval
• Black scrubs required
• Up to 5 days of requested time off may be automatically approved per 13-week contract, with any additional time subject to leader approval and made up at the end of the assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
• Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week local contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer outside the radius
