Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Level II Trauma unit, requiring active TN or compact RN licensure and prior Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Work on a 34-bed Trauma Med/Surg unit within a Level II Trauma Center
• 6:1 patient ratios with tech support on day and night shifts and unit secretary coverage 7a-7p
• Uses IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• 12-hour shifts scheduled 3 days/week, including 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Contract labor staff are first to float, rotating among multiple contract staff when scheduled

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Skilled in prioritizing and multitasking patient care
• Proficient in starting IVs, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, NG tubes, and chest tubes
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide attentive, compassionate care with bedside shift reporting and personal engagement with patients and families
• Facility holds Comprehensive Stroke, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center designations
• Navy scrub uniform required, top and bottom
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, no local candidates accepted
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months permitted
• First-time travelers may be considered
