Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring SC or compact RN license and 1 year of experience.

Details

• 23-bed inpatient General Neurology/Medical Stroke/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for adult and geriatric patients
• Private patient rooms, including one reverse air flow room and nine rooms hard-wired for continuous epilepsy monitoring
• Cares for patients with Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures, and medically managed strokes
• Supports Comprehensive Spine Center and Comprehensive Epilepsy Center programs
• Manages overflow of neurosurgical and spine surgery patients from sister units
• 3x12 Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Required to work 4-5 weekend shifts per 4-week period plus holiday rotation
• Floating required within scope to like units or sister facilities

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required in hand
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric patients and CVA preferred
• Pre/post neurosurgery experience preferred
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, oxygen administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, and rapid response/code team participation

Additional Information

• Provides direct care for neurological, stroke, and epilepsy monitoring patients
• May be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, peak August-September)
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates will be considered, though non-local candidates are prioritized
• Candidates residing within 60 miles are considered local for pay rate purposes
• All required time off must be submitted at time of consideration
