Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical – Athens, TX 75751
Start Date: November 2, 2026
Location: Athens, Texas
Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM). Patient ratio 1:6. Weekend coverage required. 12 hours of orientation provided.
Highlights:
- 91-day travel assignment in a 36-bed Medical/Surgical unit with a daily census of 30 patients
- Work with adult and geriatric patient populations with diagnoses including pneumonia, respiratory failure/COPD, sepsis, UTI, chest pain, and cellulitis
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Interpretation Services
- Epic charting system experience required
- One pre-approved time off period available during contract
Requirements:
- Active Texas RN license or Compact license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Experience with 1:6 patient ratios and Epic charting system
- Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, cardiac drip management (no titration), non-invasive airway management, and peripheral line care/management
- Candidates residing in the following Texas counties are not eligible: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
