Description

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of experience and prior travel experience.

Details

  • Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes sepsis, CIWA, confusion, AMS, COPD, post-op care, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, isolation, and SI with medical indications
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Must be able to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

Requirements

  • Active State or Compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
  • Prior travel experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and blood product administration
  • Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
  • Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care using the Nursing Process across infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
  • Document care thoroughly in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements
  • Maintain clinical competencies and support professional development for self and team
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-stress clinical environment with evolving patient safety practices
  • Utilize strong interpersonal communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Former staff must wait 1 year before returning in a travel role
  • No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • First-time travelers may be considered based on position details
  • Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
