Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring acute care med/surg experience and an active TX or compact RN license.

Details

Med/Surg unit with 43 beds and approximately 70 total staff
Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 1 unit secretary, 9-10 RNs, and 4 CNAs
Night shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 9-10 RNs, and 4 CNAs
Patient ratios of 1:5-6 during days and 1:6 during nights
Uses Meditech EMR
Unit cares for surgical patients including any type of surgery excluding cardiac and open neuro surgery
13-week assignment on 7P-7A night shift
Self-scheduling allowed within reason to maintain a balanced schedule
Rotating weekends required
Floating required to Medical unit and ER to provide med/surg hold nurse capabilities

Requirements

Active TX or compact RN license required
Minimum 1 year of recent acute care med/surg nursing experience required
Meditech EMR experience preferred
No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more within the past 12 months
US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
One professional reference required

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care on a busy surgical/orthopedic med/surg unit
Work as part of a collaborative team and be willing to ask questions when unsure of unit processes
Dress code requires royal blue scrubs
Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates will not be considered
