Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Med/Surg unit in Montgomery, AL. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated RN to provide high-quality care in a dynamic environment. We welcome first-time travelers with a minimum of 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience, especially those with EPIC or Cerner knowledge.

Facility Overview: This Level II Trauma Center features 492 beds and offers specialized care, including a Level III NICU and a Primary Stroke Center. As a Med/Surg RN, you will be assigned a home unit on your first day of orientation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in various Med/Surg settings.
• Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and document care accurately.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Perform wound care, IV management, and other critical nursing skills as required.

Patient Units:

• 6 North Trauma Surgical: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries; Ratios: 1:5-6.
• 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, and other neurological conditions; Ratios: 1:5-6.
• 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: Chemo experience preferred; Ratios: 1:6.
• 4 South Clinical Decision Unit: General MedSurg; Ratios: 1:5-6.
• 3 South Orthopedics: Joint replacements and fractures; Ratios: 1:5.
• 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: Urology and ENT; Ratios: 1:5-6.

Required Skills and Certifications:

• At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.
• IV skills, medication administration, and documentation.
• Certifications: BLS, NIHSS.

Support on the Unit:

• CNA support with a ratio of 1:6.
• Charge nurse available, rarely takes assignments.
• Telemetry monitoring techs assist with strip readings.

Scheduling Details:

• Shift Times: 7a-7p, 7p-7a.
• Weekend Rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per month.
• Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor holiday per policy.

Additional Information:

• Orientation includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit for new travelers.
• Scrub Color: Any color.
• Parking: Available in the parking deck on levels 2 through 4.
