Join a leading acute-care hospital in Montgomery, AL, as a Registered Nurse specializing in Med/Surg. This contract position is perfect for experienced RNs looking to make a difference in patient care while enjoying the benefits of a supportive work environment.

**Facility Overview:** This facility boasts 492 beds and is recognized as a Level I Trauma Center with a Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center. They welcome first-time travelers with a minimum of 18 months of Med/Surg and/or ICU experience, particularly those familiar with EPIC or Cerner. Please note that staff must be away for 6 months before returning as a traveler.

**Patient Care Responsibilities:** As a Med/Surg RN, you will be assigned to a home unit on your first day of orientation. Patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:6, with the expectation that RNs provide high-quality care, including turning patients and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs).

**Unit Details:**

• 6 North Trauma Surgical: 23 beds, focusing on general and vascular surgeries. Skills required include trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, and medication administration/documentation.
• 5 South Neuroscience: 33 beds, caring for patients with CVA, TBI, and other neurological conditions. Required skills include IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, and wound care.
• 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: 39 beds, with a preference for chemo experience. Skills include trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, and IV starts.
• 3 South Orthopedics: 20 beds, focusing on orthopedic and spine surgeries. Skills required include PCA pumps, wound care, and dressing changes.
• 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: 23 beds, requiring skills in trach care, wound care, and IV starts.

**Required Certifications:** BLS, NIHSS. Support on the unit includes a CNA with a ratio of 1:10-12, a receptionist/HUC, and a charge nurse who rarely takes assignments. Telemetry monitoring is conducted by telemetry techs, and RNs are required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings every four hours.

**Technology and Equipment:** Familiarity with Cerner is preferred, but EPIC experience will be considered. You will work with Plum 360 IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing systems.

**Orientation and Scheduling:** New travelers will undergo 24 hours of classroom training followed by 24 hours on the unit. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation of every other weekend or four weekend days per month. While holidays are not guaranteed off, you may request time off (up to 7 days) excluding blackout dates.

**Shift Times:** 7a-7p, 7p-7a with a 4-week cycle period. Note that self-scheduling is not available.

**Additional Information:** Scrubs may be any color, and parking is available in a designated deck on levels 2 through 4 at no charge.
