Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position on a fast-paced post-op surgical unit requiring at least 1 year of recent specialty experience and an active TN or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work on a 36-bed post-op surgical unit (9 Tower Surgical) within a hospital setting
  • Care for patients following post op surgical procedures including vascular, bariatric, urology, general surgery, and colorectal surgery
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Uses bariatric fitted ADLs, wound vacs, drains, and lift equipment
  • Documents in Meditech EMR
  • Floating required to other Medical-Surgical units

Requirements

  • Active RN license (TN or compact) currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
  • At least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg specialty required
  • Experience with wound care including packing, dressing changes, and wound vac maintenance
  • Experience with Foley catheter care and continuous bladder irrigation
  • Experience with ostomy appliance changes and maintenance
  • Experience with nasogastric tube insertion and suction
  • Experience with TPN administration
  • Experience with blood administration
  • Experience with central line care and dressing changes
  • No gaps in work history equaling 90 days or more in the past 12 months
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)
  • One professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced unit with short lengths of stay, requiring strong time management and teamwork skills
  • Participate in bedside shift report
  • Maintain post op surgical procedure sites
  • Team includes 8 bedside RNs per shift along with a Charge RN, Unit Secretary, Manager, and CNC on day shift
  • Ideal candidates are outgoing and customer service oriented
  • Scrub colors required: Black, Grey, White, or Royal Blue
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for consideration; local candidates will not be considered
  • Maintain prompt attendance and professional appearance
