Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg-Ortho unit requiring 2+ years of experience and Total Joint Replacement expertise.

Details

• Level 1 trauma acute care hospital setting on the 7NE Med/Surg-Ortho unit
• 22-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Patient population includes joint replacements and orthopedic fractures
• Telemetry monitoring present on the unit, but RNs are not required to read strips
• No drip titration responsibilities required
• Charge Nurse coverage available 24/7, with 3 CNAs per shift at a 1:7-8 ratio
• Respiratory therapy equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, high flow) used as needed
• Night shift schedule with every-other-weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Holiday rotation required as part of the assignment
• Floating required to 7E, 7W, 10W, and 10E as needed
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Total Joint Replacement experience required (fracture-only experience not sufficient)
• Strong orthopedic nursing background required
• BSN not required
• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required, with medical or religious exemption forms available if applicable

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to orthopedic patients including joint replacement and fracture cases
• 1-2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Royal blue scrubs required per dress code
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Previous permanent staff or travelers at this health system must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative 1-year work period within the WVU system before requiring a 2-year break
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
