Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a cancer specialty hospital, requiring 3+ years of inpatient oncology experience and chemotherapy certification.

Details

• Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit at a cancer specialty hospital
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• 13-week assignment length
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Uses Pyxis medication system and EPIC for documentation
• Utilizes SBAR communication method
• Weekend shifts required
• Floating required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration, no pending licenses or EMSA accepted
• BSN required
• Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg Oncology experience required
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and Chemotherapy (ONS/ONCC)
• Experience caring for patients with bladder, kidney, breast, colorectal, liver, lung, ovarian/uterine, pancreatic, and prostate cancer required
• Experience administering chemotherapy via continuous infusion, IV push, and oral routes required
• Experience with body fluid handling post-chemotherapy and management/disposal of cytotoxic spills required
• Experience monitoring chemotherapy and recognizing/communicating abnormal lab values required
• Experience with medication administration including antibiotics, antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, and Neupogen required
• Post-surgical care experience required
• EPIC charting experience preferred

• Provide comprehensive care to inpatient oncology patients across a wide range of cancer diagnoses
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy treatments while managing associated risks and side effects
• Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values and manage post-surgical patient care
• Caribbean blue scrubs required and not provided by facility
• Flu vaccine or signed declination form required during flu season (October-March)
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 75-mile radius
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
