Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift contract requiring 2 years of relevant experience and BLS certification.

Details

  • Medical Surgical - Neuro unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes neuro surgical procedures and neuro diagnoses
  • Patient ratio of 1:5-6
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
  • 36 or 48 hour weekly schedule options available
  • 13-26 week contract lengths accepted
  • Float requirement applies
  • Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract
  • Uses Pyxis, SBAR, and EPIC systems
  • Manager-based scheduling
  • Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team duties and required to report during catastrophic events or disasters

Requirements

  • Active NC or Compact RN license required (pending license/certs OK for submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Neuro experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skills in neurological/psychiatric care, CVA, and pre/post neurosurgery care
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide medical-surgical nursing care to neuro surgical and neuro diagnosis patients
  • Two orientation shifts on the unit following hospital-based orientation
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Must complete pre-start and annual online training modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles)
  • Must complete lab testing within 48 hours of signing
  • RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
  • Former Novant/New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details
  • Current travel per diem clinicians with this facility are not eligible for travel contracts and must choose one
  • First-time travelers are not required to have travel experience
