Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift assignment at a teaching hospital, requiring NIHSS certification and 2 years of acute inpatient experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical - Neuro unit within a short-term acute care teaching hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Floating between units and sister facilities required based on skill set
• On-call required; if cancelled from a scheduled shift, must remain available for the remainder of that shift
• Every other weekend required
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
• OR RN license required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of acute inpatient experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric conditions, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, and rapid response/code team protocols
• Must have a personal vehicle for this assignment

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions in a Med/Surg-Neuro setting
• May float to sister facilities in the surrounding region based on unit needs
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process; limited flexibility for post-offer changes
• Scrub color is open for general units; OR/Cath Lab scrubs are facility-provided
• No parking fees at this facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel pay, though local candidates may be accepted at a lower rate
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required prior to start
