Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring SC or compact RN license and holiday/call rotation availability.

Details

  • Med/Surg and General Surgery unit within an acute care facility with 396 staffed beds
  • Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours (3x12 also accepted), 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
  • Patient ratio of 1:6, occasionally 1:7
  • Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
  • On-call rotation required
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • Uses EPIC charting system
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion

Requirements

  • Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of Med/Surg experience highly preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac, cardiac monitoring, and telemetry
  • Experience managing dysrhythmias and utilizing rapid response/code teams
  • Skills in ortho trauma, post-angiogram care, and hemodialysis/renal failure management preferred
  • Bladder scan skill preferred
  • Social Security number and driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit supporting general surgery patients
  • Scrub color requirement is royal blue or white for RNs
  • Free parking available on-site
  • All staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)
  • First-time travelers may be considered but are not preferred
  • Previous MUSC permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates are not accepted; a 60-mile radius rule applies with priority given to non-local candidates
  • All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration and is subject to facility approval based on unit needs
