Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring 3+ years of experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a Medical Surgical/General Surgery unit in a 396-bed acute care facility
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), with 3x12 schedules also accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:6, occasionally 1:7
• Every-other-weekend and holiday rotation required
• Call rotation required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• 3+ years of experience highly preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line management, and PICC line management
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with wound care, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac emergency response
• Experience with ortho trauma, post-angiogram care, and renal failure/hemodialysis management preferred
• Social Security Number required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg unit including IV therapy, wound care, and cardiac monitoring
• Scrub color requirement: royal blue or white for RNs

• Candidates willing to work holidays are prioritized
• During hurricane season (June-November), employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
• First-time travelers accepted but not preferred
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for one year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted upfront and is subject to approval based on unit needs
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility
