Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical/surgical nursing with the ability to provide exceptional patient care across various units.

Position Details

• Shift: Days, every other weekend required
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Unit Type: Medical Surgical Float Pool
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Orientation: 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation
• Start Dates: 10/12 or 10/26

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in the Medical/Surgical Float Pool, which includes Medical Oncology, Surgical Units, and two medical units.
• Maintain a strong focus on total patient care without the assistance of PCAs.
• Effectively float between various units as needed.
• Perform occasional strip reading without the requirement to monitor tele.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

Qualifications

• Education: Must possess relevant nursing degree
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a large hospital setting, specifically in medical/surgical care.
• Certifications: Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Skills: Basic medical/surgical experience, strong critical thinking abilities, and excellent communication skills.

Additional Information

• Equipment: Respiratory assistance will be available; RNs are not required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment beyond basic issues.
• Coding Transition: The facility is transitioning to EPIC in November 2026.
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs required, personal scrubs must be provided.
