Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring ND or compact licensure and prior med/surg experience.

Details

  • Acute care Med/Surg Float unit with 61 combined beds
  • Patient ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights, with nurse aide ratio of 1:15
  • Cares for surgical patients (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical patients (CHF, CVA, SOB, diabetic issues)
  • Telemetry patients monitored by monitor techs, with RNs confirming strips
  • Uses CPAP, BiPap, and hi-flow respiratory equipment
  • No drip titration required
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • 12-hour day shifts on an every-other-weekend schedule
  • Every other holiday required
  • Floating required, with float pool staff first to float
  • Call/standby requirement with low census day (LCD) provisions

Requirements

  • Active ND or Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Med/Surg experience matching current unit patient population required
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

  • Unit-specific orientation includes a float checklist
  • 12 hours of orientation provided

  • Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts per contract, or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks
