Maternal-Fetal Ultrasound Technologist
Job Summary
The Maternal-Fetal Ultrasound Technologist assists in performing invasive diagnostic techniques specialized in maternal-fetal ultrasound processes. This role includes providing standardization and training to residents regarding these examinations.
Responsibilities
- Consult with patients to evaluate any contraindications such as medications, insufficient preparation, or the patient's ability to tolerate the procedure.
- Perform ultrasound procedures under general or direct supervision, as defined by the specific procedure and supervising physician.
- Conduct essential maternal-fetal ultrasound examinations, including detailed anatomical evaluation, complete fetal echocardiogram, growth assessment, fetal well-being evaluations, and needle procedure guidance.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic 3D/4D techniques for ultrasounds.
- Record anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for interpretation by the physician.
- Assist the supervising physician with invasive procedures as required.
- Analyze sonography findings during examinations to ensure comprehensive data is provided to the physician.
- Recognize situations or abnormalities that require the direct observation of the real-time scan by the radiologist.
- Image structures while obtaining Doppler signals and recording images along with patient information for interpretation.
- Communicate results of examinations to the radiologist and/or referring OB provider, providing preliminary information regarding diagnostic evaluations.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing complex obstetric/gynecological or vascular scans.
Education
- Completion of a twelve (12) month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography/General Ultrasound or an equivalent certificate program is required.
Certifications & Licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registration in OB and OB GYN is required.
Preferred Certifications
- Certification in Fetal Echocardiography (FE) is preferred.
Schedule
Shift Schedule: 4 shifts of 9 hours and 1 shift of 4 hours (1/2-day Friday).
