Key Responsibilities
Performs diagnostic breast imaging procedures under general supervision, utilizing specialized mammography equipment and techniques in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
Prepares patients for procedures and reviews clinical history to ensure alignment with provider-ordered tests, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centric care.
Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm all required elements are completed, documented, and aligned with departmental and accreditation standards.
Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical findings, and prepares studies for physician reporting.
Performs quality control checks, equipment cleaning, disinfecting, and maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions and regulatory guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited imaging or radiology program as defined by ARRT; completion of a JRCERT-accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
ARRT(RT)(M) required within 1 year of hire.
Foundational knowledge of mammography principles, radiologic technology, medical imaging, medical terminology, patient positioning, and medical ethics.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience in a mammography or broader radiology/imaging environment is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in fast-paced or stressful clinical settings.
