Description:
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the quality and efficient completion of radiologic procedures for diagnostic interpretation.
They provide patient education and quality patient care while meeting all regulatory compliance requirements.
This role includes ensuring the daily operation of the women's health section of radiology.
It involves suggesting changes in procedures, policies, and quality improvement.
The Mammography Technologist coordinates training and development in breast imaging specialties.
They adhere to all FDA guidelines for the mammography section.
Maintaining appropriate records for all accreditation processes and inspections is essential.
The technologist keeps a structured reporting system to ensure accurate audit reporting and statistical tracking.
Resolving workflow issues is also part of this role.
Daily QA and preventative maintenance scheduling must be completed.
They demonstrate advanced knowledge of mammography imaging procedures.
All exams are performed based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols established with the Radiologist.
Practicing radiation safety and adhering to ALARA standards are crucial responsibilities.
Operating equipment consistent with the manufacturer’s recommendations is required.
The technologist troubleshoots equipment problems and independently coordinates with service engineers for maintenance.
Verifying exam orders and identifying patients through two means of identification is essential, as is providing exam education.
The Mammography Technologist reviews and documents the patient’s medical history and obtains required informed consent.
Ensuring all necessary paperwork and prior studies are complete before submitting procedures for interpretation is a key task.
Accurate patient records must be maintained in electronic health records, including charging for procedures and supplies.
There may be additional responsibilities within the clinic as assigned.
The technologist must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and perform duties with minimal supervision.
They are also responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.
Demonstrating full commitment to organizational values and representing the organization in a positive, professional manner is expected.
Effective verbal and written communication is required to foster positive working relationships with patients, staff, and vendors.
Adhering to dress code policies and procedures is necessary.
