Description:
The Mammographer I performs specialized breast imaging services to aid providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment, and surveillance of breast conditions, defects, and/or diseases.
This position is intended for those who are gaining experience as a Mammographer or experienced imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in Mammography.
Work is typically performed in outpatient environments.
Under general supervision, performs diagnostic imaging on patients as ordered by a care provider.
Ensures testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient-centric care.
Prepares patients for procedures and reviews clinical history to align with provider-ordered tests.
Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
Collaborates with team members to provide exceptional patient care.
Utilizes a variety of highly specialized mammography equipment and techniques to perform diagnostic procedures in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
Conducts post-testing quality reviews to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented, and aligned with departmental and accreditation standards.
Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings, and prepares study for reporting by physician.
Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
Ensures that the technical quality of testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards.
Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as requested.
May support academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
May serve as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members.
Assists with onboarding of new team members.
Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.
Performs other duties as assigned.
