Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Long Term Acute Care position requiring CT/compact license and 3+ years of experience with respiratory/vented patients.

Details

• Long Term Acute Care setting at a 24-bed satellite campus focused on Medical, Rehab, and Respiratory care
• Patient population includes 65% chronic vent/trach patients and 35% rehab-type patients (stroke, TBI, respiratory failure, COPD)
• Medical environment distinct from traditional Med/Surg
• Patient ratios range from 1:5-8, averaging 6-7 patients per nurse
• 12-hour night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 36 hours per week with every other weekend required
• May float to like units at another campus including Respiratory Care Unit/Step Down, Medically Complex Rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring, and TBI/Chronic Care units, with travelers prioritized for floating
• Will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless pedi-specific experience is held

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
• RN experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Must be willing to obtain flu vaccination or provide medical declination (personal or religious declinations not accepted)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include IV starts, administering drips and blood, performing EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, and complex/simple wound dressings
• Additional duties include trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
• RNs are not responsible for managing ventilators, as this is handled by Respiratory Therapists
