Key Responsibilities

• Complete Activity Therapy Assessments and develop treatment plans for new patients across adult, child, adolescent, and geriatric psychiatric units
• Facilitate approximately four psychotherapeutic group activities per day across multiple inpatient units, serving as the primary group facilitator
• Document assessments, treatment plans, and group session notes accurately within the electronic medical record system (Cerner)
• Collaborate with RNs and Psychiatric Technicians who are present during group sessions to maintain staff-to-patient ratio compliance
• Work across a 120-bed, 6-unit inpatient psychiatric facility serving adult, child, and adolescent populations

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as activity therapy, recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, dance/movement therapy, occupational therapy, or expressive arts therapy
• Active certification, licensure, or registration in an appropriate discipline - examples include NC Licensed Recreational Therapist or Associate (LRT, LRT-A, or CTRS), Registered Art Therapist (ATR), Music Therapist (MT), or Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT), or a comparable credential
• Candidates holding an active LCSW, LCMHC, or LMFT may be considered if adjunctive therapy candidates are unavailable
• Minimum 2 years of experience, including demonstrated experience facilitating therapeutic groups within the applicable field
• Proficiency with electronic medical record documentation; Cerner experience a plus

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience working in an inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health setting
• Experience facilitating groups across diverse age populations, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Familiarity with psychotherapeutic group modalities such as art, music, movement, or recreational therapy
