Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 3+ years of experience and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.

Details

  • Acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds
  • Handles 1-3 births per day, approximately 830 births per year
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts (6p-6a)
  • Requires 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • On-call requirement of one shift per 4-week schedule
  • May float to Emergency Department or Med-Surg units if experienced
  • Must be able to function in L&D and couplet care settings
  • Uses Allscripts EMR

Requirements

  • Active RN license (AZ State or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
  • Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
  • C-section experience required
  • Must be proficient in fetal monitoring and appropriate response to fetal distress
  • Experience caring for high-risk OB patients, including pre-eclampsia
  • Strong clinical assessment skills required to manage OB emergencies independently

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in a Labor & Delivery unit without an in-house OB or neonatologist
  • Work alongside support staff including OB scrub tech, HUC, patient care technician, and respiratory therapist available 24/7
  • 24/7 in-house pharmacy support available
  • Nurse manager may occasionally assist with direct patient care
  • Orientation held every Monday
  • Level 3 trauma center setting
