Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D) in a high-acuity setting within an organization, located in a Level II trauma center. This role involves managing labor management and delivery of high-risk obstetric patients, including c-sections, preterm labor, and postpartum recovery. The shift is 12 hours, with a minimum of 48 hours per week, scheduled in a six-week cycle starting from 09/21/2026 through 01/02/2027.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 and 1900-0730), minimum of 48 hours per week, with every other weekend rotation; shift cycle is made in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to schedule beginning.
- Required Qualifications: 3 years of experience in Labor and Delivery (L&D), current certifications including BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN).
- Preferred Qualifications: Solid Charge Nurse experience, ability to function as a Charge Nurse, strong interpersonal skills, EPIC electronic medical record experience.
- Additional Information: The position requires high acuity experience involving labor management, fetal strip interpretation, circulating in OR, cervical examinations, and assisting with high-risk deliveries. Orientation includes hospital and unit training, with 6 shifts of unit orientation paired with a Charge Nurse. No mandatory call; opportunity to pick up open shifts.
- Float: Float rotation may be required, particularly within antepartum and postpartum units.
- Support on the Unit: Includes CNA, scrub techs, receptionists, resource RN, and RTs; RN support is 24/7 with NICU RTs for high-risk deliveries.
- Technology/Equipment: Experience with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, fetal surveillance monitors (Centricity/QxE), epidural pumps, and other standard obstetric equipment.
- Orientation: Traditional hospital and unit orientation, including a preceptor period lasting three weeks before independent shifts.
- Holidays & Time Off: No holidays for the organization; fair and equitable holiday scheduling; requests for time off must be approved prior to contract start.
