Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse located in a high-risk facility, providing specialized care in the labor and delivery department. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on obstetric and neonatal patient care, including admitting, preparing, recovery, and patient stabilization. The position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes for mothers and babies.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with shifts lasting 48 hours per week. Shift times are nights, with every 3rd weekend and every other holiday required.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice; BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications; minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in labor and delivery nursing; candidates must reside within 80 miles of the facility.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a high-risk obstetric environment; familiarity with electronic fetal monitoring systems, specifically Cerner/Fetalink.
- Additional Information: The unit follows AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios. It includes 7 beds, with dedicated space for C-sections and postpartum care. Staff must clamp, or take responsibility for, titratable drips such as insulin and oxytocin. The unit has in-house OB providers 24/7, with neonatologists and anesthesia on call. Orientation includes 3 days of facility-specific training and 2 days for unit-specific procedures. Float to NICU and as a patient sitter may be required if trained and comfortable. Scrubs are provided, and shifts are scheduled to meet staffing needs with flexibility for preferred scheduling when possible.
