Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse in the area. This role involves caring for obstetrical patients throughout antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages, as well as providing immediate care for newborns and post-C-section recovery. The position requires a dedicated healthcare professional capable of managing a high-volume labor and delivery unit.
Job Details
- Position Description: Caring for obstetrical patients antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum. Immediate PACU recovery of patients post c-section (No circulating required). Providing immediate care of the newborn.
- Equipment utilized in the unit/dept.: Epic electronic medical record, Pericalm fetal monitoring surveillance, Omnicell medication dispensing system.
- Required Qualifications: MD or compact state RN license, BLS (AHA), NRP. No minimum experience required, preferably 2 years of experience.
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with an on-call requirement averaging 12 hours every 4 weeks, including weekends (usually every third weekend but up to every other).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience caring for obstetrical patients, familiarity with fetal monitoring and postpartum care is beneficial.
- Additional Information: The unit features 13 labor beds, 3 triage rooms, and 2 operating rooms, with an average of 170 deliveries per month. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1-2:1. The unit typically undergoes 3 shifts of orientation with a preceptor following a week of general hospital orientation.
