Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in an academic medical center. This role involves providing specialized care for patients undergoing childbirth, including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, in a busy Level 1 Trauma designated hospital. The position requires strong mother-baby clinical assessment skills and the ability to work within a collaborative team environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) competency, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Fetal Monitoring skills, 2 years postpartum RN experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital, mother-baby clinical skills, central line management, care coordination with interdisciplinary teams.
- Support within the Department: Assists with vital signs, glucose checks, patient baths, feeding, ambulation, patient turning, hourly rounding, transporting patients, blood draws, and unit secretary duties during designated hours.
- Technology/Equipment: Utilizes EPIC electronic medical record system, Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, Nova Glucose Strips, Dynamapp portable vital signs monitors, PCA pain management systems, bladder scanners, IV pumps, portable oxygen, Glucommander, suction machines, and central telemetry units.
- Support Services: All adult med-surg/telemetry units are included in float rotation. Support from hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry monitoring is available 24/7.
- Orientation: One-day facility orientation followed by two days of departmental training.
- Additional Notes: Scrub color is surgical green for L&D, free parking available on campus, and the unit culture is busy but team-oriented.
