Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse, located in the region, is responsible for providing comprehensive obstetric care to patients over 20 weeks gestation. The role includes managing labor, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, obstetric triage, postpartum surgical patients, and emergency evaluations, ensuring safe and effective clinical support throughout the patient care continuum.
Job Details
- Position Description: Providing obstetric nursing care for patients on the unit, including labor management, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, OB emergency/triage evaluations, and postpartum surgical patients.
- Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred. 2 years of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred. BLS required (AHA only). Current certification from one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or National Certification Corporation (NCC) Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM). Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required. Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required (AHA only). RN License in state of Texas or compact.
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Responsibilities: Utilize nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation; administer medications and treatments; monitor side effects and effectiveness; document patient history and care; provide patient and family education; determine and address learning needs.
- Submission Requirements: Candidates must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire and complete the designated onboarding and competency validation processes.
- Experience: 2 years of recent practice in perinatal nursing or in a perinatal setting preferred.
