Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse position in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing patient care for women during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, supporting various obstetric and neonatal interventions, and ensuring safe, quality care throughout the childbirth process.
Job Details:
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), NRN (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Education and Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery; valid state license (Compact license preferred); at least 1 year of recent clinical experience in obstetrics and postpartum nursing
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Additional Qualifications: Experience with postpartum, discharge teaching to parents, infant identification, newborn assessment, phototherapy, thermoregulation, newborn hypoglycemia, post-epidural management, opioids, pain assessment and management, use of PCA (IV), Foley catheter insertion, breastfeeding instructions, episiotomy/incision care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and vaginal delivery or cesarean section procedures
- Float Requirements: May be required to float to NICU or L&D units, and potentially to other nearby campuses
- Responsibilities include caring for postpartum vaginal or cesarean delivery patients, managing tubal ligation and circumcision procedures, and supporting neonatal care including thermoregulation and glucose management
- Experience with blood and blood products administration, epidural, PCA, syringe pumps, wound vacs, and medication management is necessary
