Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk, high-volume unit requiring at least 1 year of high-risk L&D experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• High risk, high volume L&D unit with 31 rooms/beds and 4 ORs
• Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services for substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and sister facilities providing Mother/Baby care
• Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing newborn care until transfer to postpartum
• Circulates for deliveries including C-sections
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Utilizes electronic fetal monitoring equipment

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at submission
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of high-risk L&D experience required
• Experience in fast-paced, high acuity environments required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, vaginal and C-section delivery assistance, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
• Experience with medication administration including anticoagulation therapy, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and Pitocin
• Neonatal care skills including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
• Postpartum care skills including fundus/lochia/perineum care and hemorrhage management
• Fetal monitoring skills including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides comprehensive labor and delivery care including circulating for C-sections, newborn assessments, and administering eye prophylaxis and Vitamin K injections
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be accommodated
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
• Former permanent employees at other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities and refusal to float may result in termination of assignment
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
