Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk, high-volume unit requiring at least 1 year of high-risk L&D experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• High risk, high volume L&D unit with all delivery types, 4 ORs, 31 rooms/beds
• Average daily census of 15 with 500-600 deliveries per month
• Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
• Uses Epic EMR for electronic fetal monitoring and charting
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00pm-7:30am)
• Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
• Requires working every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of high-risk Labor and Delivery experience required
• Experience functioning as Baby Nurse during delivery and providing newborn care through post partum transfer required
• Circulating experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in high-risk delivery assistance, C-section circulation, hemorrhage/shock management, and newborn resuscitation
• Experience with medication administration including anticoagulation therapy, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and Pitocin
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Function as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing newborn care including APGAR scoring, eyes and Vitamin K administration, and assessments until transfer to post partum
• Circulate for deliveries and provide newborn care including thigh injections and assessments
• Care for high-risk antepartum, postpartum, and newborn patients including couplet care and multiple births
• Provide breastfeeding/lactation support and pain management including epidural and nitrous oxide administration
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff at a Providence facility must have been separated for at least 3 months and reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Perm staff from other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible for a travel contract after a 3-month separation
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
