Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit, requiring a WA or compact RN license and prior high-acuity L&D experience.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit on night shift, 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
- High-risk, high-volume L&D unit with 4 ORs and 31 beds/rooms
- Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
- Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services for substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
- Utilizes Epic EMR and electronic fetal monitoring
- Float required to Postpartum/Antepartum units and to sister facilities providing Mother/Baby care
- Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
- Requires working every other weekend and holidays as needed
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced L&D environment required
- Epic EMR charting experience required
- 1:1-2 patient ratio experience
- Skilled in labor and delivery management, including amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock management
- Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, Insulin drips, anticoagulation therapy, and antihypertensives
- Competent in neonatal care during delivery, including APGAR scoring, newborn resuscitation, cord sample collection, and thermoregulation
- Skilled in postpartum care, including couplet care, hemorrhage management, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and lactation support
- Experience with pain management modalities including epidural anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and opioid administration
- Proficient in fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required
Additional Information
- Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing continued newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections, and thigh assessments until transfer to postpartum
- Serves as Circulator for C-section deliveries as a core function of the role
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a minimum 3-month separation, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Direct contact with facility staff outside of scheduled interviews is not permitted
- Providers are expected to float between sister facilities as needed within the health system
